Esteem Project

Making a Difference Through the Esteem Project

The Esteem Project has been delivering a wide range of activities designed to bring people together, build confidence, develop new skills and improve wellbeing within our local community.

Our Tea and Talk sessions have provided a friendly, welcoming space where people can meet others, build new friendships and access face-to-face support with a range of issues affecting their everyday lives. These sessions have helped reduce isolation and created a strong sense of community and belonging.

We have also delivered budget cooking sessions, helping participants develop new cooking skills while learning how to prepare healthy, affordable meals. With the ongoing cost-of-living pressures facing many households, these practical skills have never been more important.

Our multi-sport and walking football sessions have encouraged people of all ages to become more physically active. Alongside the physical health benefits, participants have experienced improved confidence, social connections and positive mental wellbeing.

The project has also supported volunteers to gain valuable qualifications, including Food Hygiene and First Aid certificates. These achievements can help participants develop their confidence, strengthen their CVs and improve their opportunities to move into employment.

We Got Your Back – Supporting People Towards Employment

To meet local needs and address gaps where statutory services may not be able to provide the level of individual support required, we have also developed our We Got Your Back employment and training initiative.

Through this initiative, we provide practical support to help participants develop their digital and technical skills and explore new employment opportunities. We support people with job searches, creating and updating CVs, completing application forms and preparing for interviews through realistic mock interview sessions.

Our aim is simple: to give people the skills, confidence, support and encouragement they need to take their next step towards training, employment and a more positive future.

The Esteem Project is not just about providing activities — it is about people, opportunity, confidence and community, helping local people realise their potential and know that they have someone in their corner.
