Golden Years Active Project: Empowering Our Community's Golden Seniors

Our holistic approach aims to address the prevalent issues of loneliness and isolation, which deeply affect many older individuals within our community. By fostering a nurturing social space, our project creates a vibrant environment where our participants can rejuvenate their enthusiasm for maintaining good health, forge meaningful friendships, and revel in a diverse array of enjoyable games tailored to their abilities.

Since its inception in late 2022, our Golden Years Active Project has been a resounding success, touching the lives of numerous older individuals who continue to benefit from its transformative impact.

Join us in celebrating the resilience and vitality of our golden seniors as they embark on this enriching journey towards a healthier, more connected, and joy-filled golden age.
Welcome to the Golden Years Active Project, an initiative designed specifically for the esteemed members of our community aged 55 and above. We are dedicated to uplifting the lives of our older generation residing in the Spinney Hills and Highfields areas of Leicester, with a special focus on engaging individuals from the Black African & Caribbean, Indian, and Pakistani backgrounds (referred to as BAME).
The rising cost of living has left many members of our community struggling to make ends meet, resulting in food poverty, frequent visits to food banks, and days without proper meals. We saw the need for change, and that's where the Grow Cook and Eat project stepped in.

Golden Years

Recognizing that our golden seniors face limited opportunities to access fitness and exercise, we have crafted a transformative project that spans an impressive 44 weeks. Throughout this duration, our devoted team of coaches will provide unwavering support to empower our golden elders to regain an active lifestyle, thus enhancing their physical and mental well-being.
